Not everything belongs on a monthly bill. Moving offices, opening a second location, replacing every computer at once, or setting up a network in an empty space are projects. Workflow IT quotes them as projects, with a clear scope and a fixed price, whether or not you're a managed client.
Projects we take on
- Office moves. Planning the internet and network at the new space, the wiring before the walls close, the equipment move itself, and support on your first day in the new office. There's a checklist for it.
- New locations and tenant build-outs. Coordinating with your general contractor and electrician on where the network closet goes, where outlets go, power and internet so the space is ready when you are.
- Equipment upgrades. Replacing aging computers or a server on a schedule, with your files moved over and the old equipment wiped and recycled properly.
- Retiring an old server. Moving what's on it to Microsoft 365, a new server or an online service, then switching the old one off for good.
- Network rebuilds. Replacing a tangle of consumer equipment with a proper firewall, managed switches and Wi-Fi. See network and Wi-Fi.
- Camera and door-system wiring. Cabling and network setup for security cameras and door controllers, coordinated with your security vendor.
For IT companies and integrators without a Knoxville presence
If you're an IT company, a national integrator or an equipment vendor with a client in East Tennessee and nobody local, Workflow IT takes subcontracted onsite work under your direction and your brand where required. Senior technicians, professional communication with your client, photos and notes on completion, and no attempt to poach the account.
- Smart hands: reboots, swaps, console access, rack and stack.
- Hardware installs and replacements: firewalls, switches, access points, servers, workstations, point-of-sale.
- Structured cabling: drops, closet cleanup, racks and patch panels, testing.
- Site surveys with photos and measurements.

Onsite visits for managed clients
Managed IT plans include onsite visits for things that can't be fixed remotely. Anything scheduled in advance, such as a new-hire setup or a printer replacement, gets planned around your day rather than dropped in the middle of it.
Questions people ask about this
How far in advance should we involve IT in an office move?
As early as the lease is signed. Internet service can take four to six weeks to install in some East Tennessee buildings, and wiring has to go in before the walls are closed. The two most expensive words in an office move are "we forgot."
Do you work with our general contractor?
Yes. We coordinate directly with your general contractor and electrician on where the network closet goes, conduit, power and outlet locations, and stay out of their way otherwise.
What happens to our old computers?
Drives are wiped to a documented standard or physically destroyed, and the hardware is recycled or returned to you, whichever you prefer.
Do you take subcontracted work from other IT companies?
Yes, regularly. Scope, location and timing by email, a prompt quote back, and a professional presence with your client under your brand where required.
